Personal Branding photographers provide business photos, right? You and your photographer will create a collection of images so you can show up, specifically online, as well as help your clients and customers understand what you do and how you do it. Ultimately, these images represent your business.
Yet, as a Personal Branding Photographer, I don’t see myself as someone selling business photos to my clients.
What I do instead is create beautiful and honest images that are a tool for you to connect with your audience and help you sell your offers.
When we work together, you don’t just walk away with a collection of photos but a suite of marketing material to promote your business. Plus, before your session, I’ll send you a questionnaire that will help you vocalise what your business is about, what you need these images for and what you want to see and feel in them.
All of that will help us create a bank of images that will serve their purpose and spark ideas on how to use them.
My most booked session is called Your Brand Signature which is a roughly 2-hour session where you walk away with an average of 150 photos (I promise less but I usually overdeliver). So even if you share a photo daily on your socials – weekdays only – that would be 5 months of content.
Nobody needs to post photos of themselves that often though. In reality, these images will probably last you for 2-3 years.
I have clients from 2021 who still use their photos to sell their services. It’s more likely that you’ll be due an updated headshot than a full-blow branding shoot yearly. Unless your business changes completely and your offers can’t be sold with the help of previous photos.
So instead of business photos, I sell content opportunities. Every image tells a different story of your business.
- We can show how you do the things behind the scenes people don’t see.
- We can highlight individual products and services through product or detail shots.
- You can create a deeper connection to you audience by sharing small part of your life outside your business. That doesn’t mean you have to share a lot of personal details but people are nosy and want to know what goes on behind the scenes – so be brave and personable.
- You will have photos that highlight struggles and worries of your clients/customers which gives you an opportunity to talk about how you handle those things.
- Some images are specifically designed to highlight your processes and approach to certain problems.
Each image can prompt a different story and can help you sell – as long as you use them not in isolation but in combination with the right messaging and the platforms your clients are on.
And most importantly, Business Photos sound very transactional. Stiff. Corporate. That’s not what I offer. What I want to provide for you are images that look like you and that you can’t wait to show off because of how they make you feel: confident, authentic, powerful, real.
It’s not about portraying “your best self” but your most honest self in a way that makes you feel great. The images are showing you, without having to change anything or dressing up as a version that you think people need to see to take you seriously.
They’re 100% you but portrayed the way I see you – not retouching any flaws but drawing so much attention on your strength that you’ll happily overlook them.
Well, that’s the goal anyway. Either way, that’s not what people think when they hear “business photos”, right? We create portraits that are fit to promote you and your business and show your humanity so people want to get to know you!
How do we do that?
You’ve got to trust me! We’ll need to do some work beforehand to know what you and your business need. And then enjoy the day and the session. Your Personal Branding shoot won’t be planned by the minute but we’ll have a rough schedule to carry us through the day. We’ll check off images we know your business needs and let the flow of the day carry us to create some magic.
