“Don’t go chasing waterfalls, please stick to the rivers and the lakes that you’re used to!”
This song, “Waterfalls” by TLC, was one of the first songs we heard on the Icelandic radio in our rented 4-wheeler and it was oh so fitting cause “chasing waterfalls” was pretty much what we came to Iceland for.
It’s been almost 1.5 years since I went to Iceland with 3 awesome people – Jo, Melissa and Adrian. A lot has happened since then: One of us has moved to another city – I think twice even (not me). And one of us has made a new human (also not me). Yet it doesn’t even feel that long ago since we cruised around the cold and snowy streets of Iceland, discovering waterfalls, geysers, black sand beaches, abandoned houses and so much more. It was a magical and freezing cold week. We’ve seen so much, yet so much else was hidden under a massive blanket of snow. Roads were closed off and a few times I underestimated how deep the snow could get – and sunk in almost to my hips.
Alongside a huge amount of photos I also took some video and stop motion footage and finally edited this all together into this:
And these are some of my favourite photos from the trip, in no particular order.
Adrian made a sweet steller storybook with his photos too, so go and check them out.
